Sauce boat
Government-issued naval sauce boat (it has a broad arrow on the base). It is made of white earthenware and glazed, the lid is missing. The handles are moulded with a foliage pattern and are decorated with gilding and painted blue lines, as are the rim and base. A badge is transfer-printed in blue on the front, depicting a foul anchor with a Queen's crown above, within an oak leaf wreath. The maker's mark and date letter are impressed on the base with the painted pattern number 'D3639'.
