Chain boom link
A link from the Portsmouth harbour chain boom. Large elongated oval wrought iron link. It is hand-forged with parallel sides and semicircular ends. The longitudinal layers of iron are very evident, but the join is well made and not obvious. The iron bar from which the link is made is of irregular squarish section, narrower at the ends.
