Button
A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-48. Four leather buttons found at Crozier's camp near Ross Cairn, Point Victory, King William Island on 11 July 1879 by the Schwatka Search Expedition 1878-79. This was the place where the crews of 'Erebus' and 'Terror' landed after abandoning their ships. The buttons have shanks and have traces of a surface black colour. One has a small piece of blue cloth attached. They are probably jacket buttons.
