A Dutch man-of-war at anchor
The drawing appears to have been made at the same time as PAJ2430, or, as suggested by Robinson, shortly after, as the hull of the same ship is shown in shadow and similarly silhouetted with a kaag passing close alongside her. There is a rising coastline in the right distance and a harbour in the centre distance. The drawing has pen and wash addtiobs by Charles Gore.
A drawing by the Younger signed in brown ink ‘W.V.V.J’, and is inscribed on the reverse, possibly by Charles Gore, ‘No. 4’. It has been approximately dated by the watermark. The signature is probably much later.
