Pistol, 1856 pattern

Pair of percussion pistols. The pistols have a stock which is fitted with a broad brass trigger guard and a flat brass buttcap with a steel ring for lanyard. There is a brass fore-end cap and a ramrod pipe. An iron swivel ramrod enters the stock via the pipe. The pistols have a percussion sidelock. The barrel has a circular external section with a blade foresight and no rearsight. The calibre is 0.577in. The locklplate is engraved with the name 'Crown TOWER 1874' and the barrel is stamped with the number '25' and bears an indistinct proofmark.
