Snuff box

Silver plated snuff box which belonged to Sir Richard Burton (1821-90). Engine turned snuff box, with hinged lid and rounded corners. In a cartouche on the lid the initials: 'RFB'. Engraved on the inside the lid: 'Richard Burton's snuff Box / given to Dr Chepmell by / Isabel Burton 1st January 1895'. Marked in base and lid 'D & J' and 'JJ' with a crown.
