Hipparcos astrometry satellite beam combiner mirror
Flight spare unit, made by REOSC (France).
This mirror is a flight spare from the Hipparcos satellite that was used to map over 1 million stars during the early 1990s. To speed up the process, engineers split the mirror so that more parts of the sky could observed at the same time.
