Sir William Henry Mahoney Christie

This is a black and white print of an oil painting of Sir William Henry Mahoney Christie, Astronomer Royal 1881-1910. The original was painted in 1911 by Jacomb-Hood, one year after Christie retired. The picture is a three quarter length portrait of Christie standing in front of the 28 inch telescope which was installed at the Observatory during his time as Astronomer Royal. The oil painting is owned by the Christie family.
