Button, Royal Marines uniform: pattern 1818
Button. Flat. Smooth edge. On a smooth background, around the bottom edge going up either side is a wreath of leaves. Around the top edge is ROYAL MARINES. In the centre is a fouled anchor with the rope tied to the ring and goes under the right-hand stock, then goes over the shank to the left , then over the shank to the right, under the right arm and curls under the crown.
