Sea Service Pistol

Sea Service pistol. The walnut stock is fully stocked to the muzzle. It is fitted with a brass trigger guard and brass buttcap. A single brass ramrod pipe is fitted forward of the fore-end into which the wooden ramrod with brass tip is fitted. It has a steel trigger with slight backward curl. A steel belt hook is fitted to the side of the stock. The lock is a sidelock, flintlock. The circular barrel is smoothbore. The calibre is 0.56in. The pistol is engraved on the lockplate with the inscription 'TOWER Crown' over the letters 'GR'. The barrel is stamped with a crown over the letters 'GR' which in turn are over an arrow and a crown over crossed sceptres. The stock bears the inscription 'II P' and is also decorated with a crown over an arrow which in turn is over the date '1806'.
