Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1843

Button. Before being flattened the edge appears to have been of the rope twist design with a raised circular border. On a lined background is a pre-1901 crown above a fouled anchor. The rope appears below the right-hand side of the stock, goes over the shank to the left, then under the shank to the right and then under the right arm. Commissioned officers.
