Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1825
Button. Domed. Rope twist edge. Within a raised circular border on a lined background is an anchor with a snake twisted around it, the head poking left through the ring/shackle. Its body goes under the right-hand stock, under the shank to the left then over the shank to the right and disappears under the right arm. Surgeon or medical branch?
