Obsidio Rupellae
Framed print entitled "Obsidio Rupellae". One of a set of ten annotations and decorative borders produced to accompany Jacques Callot's engraved series of the Siege of the Ile de Rhe. The museum has two complete sets of the engravings (PAH7550-60), and five of the ten border engravings (ZBA7870-72 and PAJ3048-9) that were produced to mount the set as a large single piece.
It also has the following titles: 1. "Les Rochelloys demandent pardon au Roy". 2. "Roy de France et de Nav Louis XIII du nom". 3. "L'entree du Roy a la Rochelle". 4. "Chateau Dargencourt". 5. "Monsieur le Mareschal de Shomberg presentent les Anglois captifz a sa majeste". 6. "Frere unique du Roy Gaston de France". 7. "Profil de La Rochelle and de la Digue". 8. Machine de duplessis et vassal". The image is surrounded by French and Latin text.
