The Battlecruiser Repulse at sea
Watercolour on board, signed by the artist. The subject was previously unidentified, but the 'Repulse' (1916) is indentified by her armour belt, which had straight edge. The cabin that was fitted amidships was removed in early 1927 and from 7 June 1929 to November 1931 she was a flagship and had a flagstaff fitted above her fore control top - the date of this watercolour must therefore be 1927-29. 'Repulse' was commanded by Captain Gerald Dickens CMG RN, grandson of novelist Charles Dickens.
