Needle case
Medical equipment belonging to Dr Alexander Hepburne Macklin (1889-1967), surgeon on Shackleton's last two expeditions. Black leather bound needle case with lint inserts containing three curved (suturing?) steel needles and seven straight steel needles. Cover fitted with black elasticated cloth retaining strap. Appears to be the covers of a small notebook converted for use as a needle case.
