Royal Society, Copley Medal awarded to Astronomer Royal, Nevil Maskelyne (1732-1811), "in consideration of his curious and laborious Observations on the Attraction of Mountains, made in Scotland, – on Schehallien" . Obverse: Pallas seated (left) among symbols of learning. Legend: 'G. COPLEY BART. DIGNISSIMO.' Exergue: 'NEV. MASKELYNE. A.R. MDCCLXXV'. Reverse: the arms of the Society. Legend: 'SOCIETAS REG.
