Prize medal, Colonial and Indian Exhibition, London, 1886. Obverse: Head of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales later Edward VII (1841-1910) (left). Legend: 'ALBERT EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT.' Reverse: Within an oak wreath 'COLONIAL AND INDIAN EXHIBITION LONDON 1886'. About 5000 of these Indian & Colonial Exhibition medals were struck. They were engraved by Leonard Wyon and minted in Birmingham by Heaton's who charged £145 per 1000 medals. The medals were presented with a diploma to each person who took part in the Indian and Colonial exhibition. The recipient's name were not inscribed [information Howard H. Hornreich]
