Punch and Judy puppet: the horse
A glove puppet horse. Part of a Punch and Judy set belonging to puppeteer Peter Butchard (1909-2009). Punch attempts to ride Hector the horse who throws him off. The horse consists of a head on a sleeve. The head is carved in wood, with glass eyes and is partly covered with leather. The body is pony hide with the hair still attached. It has one hide ear. The head is attached with nails, the remainder of the figure is hand sewn.
