Musketoon

Musketoon. The stock is possibly made of walnut. The right side of the butt is carved with an elaborate floral design with traces of gilding and a carved inscription (possiblyArabic) above. Very long plain brass trigger guard, brass sideplate and brass butt plate. Steel ramrod set into the underside of the stock. The lock is a sidelock flintlock. The barrel is steel and flared. The calibre is 2.5in. Inscribed on the lockplate is a crown over 'GR', a crown over an arrow and possibly the letters 'SG'. This is likely to be a trade gun made for the Middle Eastern market.
