Presentation casket
An oak casket with a key which contained a silk Admiral's flag. (see AAA0702 for the flag). The box has a silver plaque on the lid inscribed: 'To Admiral Sir David Beatty G.C.B, G.C.V.O., D.S.O., R.N. From the Boys of the National Nautical School, Portishead, Somt. (late training ship 'Formidable') in greatful recognition of his long and successful 'watch and ward' over the German Fleet 1914-1918'. The sides of the box are carved with the names of Beatty's ships: 'DONGOLA 1896', 'LION 1916', ' BARFLEUR 1900', 'QUEEN ELIZABETH 1918'.
