Pattern 1842

Percussion musket. The walnut stock is fitted with three brass ramrod pipes, brass fore-end cap, brass butt cap and a brass trigger guard. Two iron sling loops fitted. The lock is a percussion sidelock. The head of hammer is relieved at the front. The iron barrel if of circular section with small rearsight and rectangular knob as foresight. The calibre is 0.753in. 'YEOMANS LONDON' is inscribed on the lockplate. 'H Yeomans 35 East Smithfield London' is inscribed on the butt. There are traces of proof marks on the barrel above the breech.
