Reward Poster

Printer’s proof of a letterpress broadside reward poster for a runaway slave with the following inscription: ‘$00,00/ Reward!/ Ranaway from the subscriber, on the/ 10th inst., a Negro Man named Jack, about/ 35 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches/ high, weighs 125 or 130 lbs., dark copper/ color, some teeth out before, has an impedi-/ ment in his walk as if he were stiff in the hip/ joint, his clothing consisted of black cloth pan-/ taloons, blue cloth close bodied coat, and black/ over coat, boots and over shoes – boots have/ been lately half-soled; – also a black oil cloth/ satchel. I will give $25 if taken in the coun-/ ty, $50 if taken out of the county, or $100/ if taken out of the State, or lodged in any jail/ that I may get him, or delivered to me in/ Haynesville, Clinton County, Missouri./ Taylor Hulen./ March 12, 1858’.
