Page from a book on an unidentified book on slavery, with a kneeling enslaved man

Image of a slave in chains above a story about a woman and her two children, who claim to be free but have been put in gaol without any evidence that they are escaped slaves. The article quotes an advertisement from a Jamaican newspaper saying if they are not claimed they will be put up for sale. The author uses this as an example of the injustice of slavery.

On the reverse is a letter to the editor of the Devizes Gazette with the headline ‘Slavery in the British West Indies’, 10 September 1825.
