Plain horn beaker
Plain horn beaker, which was previously inscribed in ink by Capt William Bligh, now lost: 'Allowance of water 3 times a day'. This beaker was used by Lieutenant William Bligh to measure rations during the voyage from Tofoa to Timor in the Bouty's launch, after the ship had been seized by the mutineers. Bligh and his eighteen companions were initially allowed 28 gallons of water, however, additional water and supplies were obtained at Tofua, where one man was killed by local people. The water was distributed at a daily rate of 3/4 pint, per man. See ZBA2701 and ZBA2702.
