James William Buel (1849-1920) published his 'Heroes of the Dark Continent', and how 'Stanley found Emin Pasha' in various editions across North America in 1889-90. The book, which deals with European exploration of Africa, with illustrations, many of them quite shockingly graphic depictions of the appalling brutality of the East and Central African slave trade.
