Penny
An anti-slavery penny. Depicted on the obverse is an enchained slave kneeling to the right. It has the legend: 'AM I NOT A WOMAN & A SISTER 1838'. The reverse has an inscription within a wreath: 'LIBERTY 1838', and the legend: 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'. The ‘N’ in United is reversed.
