The badge of Liberian Order of African Redemption is a double sided pendant badge, in silver gilt and enamel. The badge is made up of a five pointed star, in white enamel. Each of the points terminates in a silver gilt ball and between each point are gilt metal rays. On the obverse in the centre of the star ther is a copper roundel with two applied silver figures with broken chains at their feet, kneeling at the base of a cross bearing the letters 'INRI' (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum – ‘Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews’). This is surrounded by a metal wreath of laurels and berries with traces of green and red enamel, most of which is gone. On the reverse are the Liberian arms in coloured enamel; a ship in full sail with the sun on the horizon to the left; and to the right, a plough and palm tree form the foreground. This is encircled with a champleve frame of blue enamel with the gilt metal letters, 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE'.
