Freeboard calculating slide-rule

Slide rule in a cardboard case. This is a copyright slide rule designed by A.M.Gordon of Glasgow, dated circa late 19th century. It is an aid to ship designers in working out the freeboard of different types of ship which meet Lloyd's scantlings and Board of Trade regulations. Instructions of use are printed on the reverse. The case is likely not to be the original case for the rule.
