Scale 1:12. A model of a topsail yard made entirely in wood. The yard is octagonal in the mid section which then gradually tapers out to a circular section at both ends. It has been stained and varnished with a natural wood finish and includes nineteen simulated iron hoops painted black spaced equally along the length of the yard. At the extreme ends of the yard are two horizontal slots to take a sheath (not fitted) for the running rigging. At one end is a small metal hook which was used to display it when in the South Kensington Museum.
