Pike

Boarding pike. Steel four sided blade and wooden shaft with pointed steel shoe. Marks: on blade: 'G over 2' and 'W'.On shaft: B arrow O The pike was use for boarding a ship or for repelling a boarding attempt. The last pike model was issued in the mid-nineenth century but they survived in the Navy until 1905.
