Whale tooth

A sperm whale's tooth engraved with an action between a British ship and a dismasted opponent, wreckage in the sea in the foreground. On the other side, is a whaling scene with a whaling vessel hove-to in the background, four boats are shown in the foreground, one with a line to a whale. This type of sailor's craftwork is known as scrimshaw.
