Ramages' New Telescope

A illustration of one of the reflecting telescopes erected for John Ramage (1783-35). In this example, the observer can be seen on a platform looking down the telescope.

This is presumably the telescope that was erected in the courtyard of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, between 1826 and 1836 and which is illustrated in W. Pearson's 'Practical Astronomy', Plate IX - see Howse (1975), p. 117.
