Plate
Plate as used in first class on 'Great Eastern' 1858. A porcelain dinner plate, with a transfer in the centre depicting Britannia within an olive wreath with roses, thistles and shamrock below. 'Great Eastern' is seen offshore in the background. The border of the plate is moulded with a laurel wreath bound with ribbons decorated in light blue and gilt. There is a gilt inner border of rope twist pattern. The plate has printed and impressed maker's marks and an impressed registration mark for the year 1857.
