Teapot lid

Earthenware teapot, transfer-printed in blue with an overall wave design. On each side is a scallop-shaped reserve containing a ribbon inscribed 'TRAFALGAR' placed across the staff of a British ensign, flying above a gun, laurel branch and inverted foreign flags. The trophies are flanked by a pyramid and crocodile representing the battle of the Nile, and a fortress representing the battle of Copenhagen. Each shell is placed between a pair of tritons blowing on seashells, facing one another. The teapot has a Greek key pattern border with a thistle, shamrock, rose, anchor, palm and laurel branches. This is repeated on the lid. Naval trophies are printed on the spout. The teapot is an oblong octagonal shape with an octagonal spout.
