House flag, Mogul Line Ltd
The house flag of the Mogul Line Ltd, Bombay, India. A flag with three white and two green horizontal stripes. The flag is made of a wool and synthetic fibre bunting. It has a cotton hoist and is machine sewn. A rope and two Inglefield clips is attached. The Bombay and Persia Steamship Company was formed by four muslim merchants in 1877. Initially operating between Bombay and the Persian Gulf, it later became involved in carrying pilgrims to Jeddah en route to Mecca. The firm was British controlled from 1913 and was renamed the Mogul Line in 1939. In 1960 the Indian Government gained overall control and took over the company completely in 1975.
