Dispatch box
Dispatch box belonging to Admiral, Henry Carr Glyn (1829-84). A hinged box covered in dark-blue leather, with gold tooling, the bright blue colouring remains inside. It has brass hinges and a lock by T. Turner & Co., London 'secure lever'. There is an escutcheon plate but no key. In gold on the lid: 'H.C.G. Danube & Crimea 1854, India 1875-1876.'
