Chest

Wooden chest with carved lid inscribed: 'SALUS SHOREHAM' on a rope-edged scroll decorate with the Prince of Wales' feathers, arrows and stars.This chest was used to hold the documents of the 'Salus' and includes the correspondence and maps of Captain William Poland of Brighton (MS/69/047). The handles on the ends are missing, there is an inset brass handle to lift the hinged lid. The chest is of dovetailed construction and now stands on castors.
