Instrument case
Mahogany instrument case for an astronomical quadrant with a shelf inside. There is a brass handle at each end and a hinged door with a lock. A paper label inside the door reads: 'This observatory cost when new, £120 and was the property of the famous Captn Cook and was purchased at the sale ordered by the Board of Longitude. Wm. Walker Aug 1837 (?)' On a second label 'Inventory of Quadrant...'.
