Sea chest

Sea chest owned by Captain Thomas Evans b.1861. It has a till inside and is painted black. Pine with a possibly elm lid which has iron hinges. The chest has skirting boards. The handles consist of cleats and wormed, canvas-covered, rope beckets with leather washers. Captain Evans was the master of the barque 'Edderside' and sailed round Cape Horn in her during 1890.
