Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland
A view of the port side of the hull abreast the mainmast at main deck level, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The rubbish chute and a water drainpipe cover were blown away by a medium calibre shell or shrapnel that did little other damage. This photograph was taken in No.1 Dry Dock at Rosyth.
