Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland
A very close view of the port side of the hull just forward of the mainmast, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The damage to this plating was caused by a 12 inch shell. Negative N16490 shows a more distant view of this area. This photograph was taken in No.1 Dry Dock at Rosyth.
