Compass platform from foretop
A view from the foretop of HMS Queen Elizabeth (1913), looking straight down at the compass platform. The standard compass is at the forward end of the mounted platform, with the gyrocompass behind it. To the right of the compasses is the folding chart table. Four men can be seen on the compass platform, as can four more at the lookout positions nearby. The roof of the armoured conning tower and a small part of the 15-inch gun director are visible beyond the compass platform. The two small guns visible on the shelter deck 3-pounder saluting pieces.
