The Grand Fleet at sea
A distant view of the 1st Division of the 2nd Battle Squadron steaming in line ahead, seen from the forward superstructure of HMS Queen Elizabeth (1913). The fourth ship from the left is HMS Erin (1913), which confirms the identity of the Division. The leading ship would therefore be the Division flagship HMS King George V (1911) followed by her two sisters. It cannot be determined which of the latter is HMS Ajax (1912) and which is HMS Centurion (1911) The two vessels to the right are too far away to identify with any certainty, but appear to be light cruisers of the 'C' type, most likely HMS Calliope (1914) and HMS Constance (1915) of the 4th Light Cruiser Squadron.
