The Grand Fleet
Ships of the Grand Fleet at anchor in Scapa Flow. The battleships clearly visible in the left/centre are (from left to right) an Orion class ship, a Queen Elizabeth class ship, another Queen Elizabeth class ship with an Orion and then a Bellerophon or St Vincent class ship beyond her, HMS Agincourt (1914), an Orion class ship, HMS Neptune (1909), and a Colossus class ship. Although most are too distant to be identified by name, collectively these vessels indicate the presence of the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Battle Squadrons in the anchorage. A pair of drifters can be seen in the foreground and above and to the right of the picture a kite balloon is being streamed from one of the battleships. The battleships which are bows-on to the viewer on the right are too distant to be identified.
