Sea chest

Sea chest belonging to Admiral George Bowen died circa 1823. A pine chest, leather-covered with brass upholstery nails; lined with printed paper. The corners are reinforced with iron plates, there are slides undeneath and iron drop handles on the ends. On the lid in nails: 'CAPT. BOWEN RL. NAVY.' The lid has a leather flap round the edge and the chest had a lock. Straps across the front are now lost.
