Writing desk

Spanish mahogany, cylindrical writing desk in the Empire style with gilt enrichments said to have come from Merton Place and to have been the property of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson. When open, it forms an Empire cabinet escritoire with the usual interior fittings and several secret drawers. There are two mirrored compartments in the wings, the fall front of the escritoire is also cross banded and mirrored.
