Ship's seal

Imperial German Navy ship's official seal, for use with an ink pad. It was recovered from the German ship 'Grosser Kerfürst' 1913 after it had been scuttled at Scapa Flow on 1 June 1919. The ship was savaged by Metal Industries in 1938. A round brass seal with a wooden handle bearing a German imperial eagle coat of arms, surrounded by the inscription: 'Kaiserliche Marine. Gericht SMS GROSSER KERFÜRST'.
