Buckle
One of a pair of shoe buckles (JEW0007-0008) with a plain silver frame. The buckle has an iron chape with pitchfork prongs on an iron crossbar and a two-pronged iron roller. The inside of the buckle is inscribed with the words 'Victory over the French, Admiral Rodney & Admiral Hood 1782 12th of April'. The inscription commemorates the Battle of the Saints, which took place on the 12th April 1782.
