Armlet
A circular armlet from Papua New Guinea carved from a large trochus shell. Collected by Captain H.J.O.Millar when in command of HMS 'Torch' 1903-4 in the S. Pacific Islands. In 1903 HMS 'Torch' took Major General Edward Hutton (1848-1923) to British New Guinea via Thursday Island to carry out an inspection of imperial defences.
