Engraved on case back with the words 'Lady Emma Hamilton 1801'. Convex glass over dial. The watch comes complete with a watch key and locket, which are attached via a chased gilt metal split ring and red cord to the watch. The watch key is made from rolled gold and steel, and is set with an oval bloodstone and an oval faceted foil-backed pale yellow transparent stone. The gilt metal oval locket contains plaited hair behind an oval glass insert. The locket is decorated with an engraved scroll motif and blue enamel infill. The watch movement has been altered to fit a later case (probably made circa 1830), the gold dial made circa 1840(?). The engraving and date on the case are evidently spurious.
